Alison Shotbolt
Having initially studied Fine Art I took up printmaking about twelve years ago. I work mainly from my small studio in the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog, producing, limited editions by hand, on a vintage Little John Press.I grew up in North Wales between the sea and mountains and have long been captivated by the dramatic moods that light and shadow create in such places, so it’s no surprise that I return frequently to the themes of water, rock and wood in my work.
I use a number of printmaking techniques and every one brings a different quality to the image. Some processes involve fine delicate lines, others, soft tones, or sharp vibrant cuts, each of which gives a print its particular atmosphere.
Whichever technique, it inevitably involves several stages before a finished print can be taken, so it’s not until that moment when you peel the paper away from the plate, can you really see what you have created!!
What's On
We at Crafts Alive are proud to support and stock Victoria House Weavery products.
Founded in 1981, Victoria House is set up to accommodate people with mild learning difficulties aged 18-64. All residents are encouraged to live their lives as independently as possible. This family-feel accommodation, with its own house manager, is located in Llangadog, where carers and residents share household responsibilities, social activities, and mealtimes.
